Case Study Agenia Disability Basin
It is intended for use by wheel chair users, elderly or disabled. The basin was designed for manufacture at the lowest possible cost to make it available to the less affluent. Installation needed to be simple with minimum disruption to the existing facilities and the unit was designed to fit below existing windows if so required. Competing products have various costs most starting in excess of £1400. The features on the Agenia basin system have been designed to address physical disability and are included in the basic build at no extra cost.
Two versions are available, one for the seriously disabled having all controls at the front and provides thermostatically controlled water temperature from a central outlet, the second uses a “conventional” touch action faucet. The water control system conserves water with an automatic shut off and the duration of flow can be adjusted electronically to the users choice. The units are designed to be hygienic easy clean with no crevices for bacteria to grow. High quality porcelain is used and optionally, an automatic sanitizing system included to eradicate 99.9% of bacteria including Legionella, MRSA, C-Diff etc. reducing risk of infection to the vulnerable.
